What Else

MEGAN OWEN, ALIAS “GABBY”, (the name her first grandson gave her), brings to her teaching the same love, wonderment and fascination about music that she was given as a child growing up in a musical family. For her, teaching is positively a transformational experience.

what else
Gabby believes that children should grow up knowing about and appreciating food, since it’s such a part of our daily lives, and that both boys and girls should learn to cook. For the youngest children, simple mixing & combining ingredients (without actually cooking them) can be fascinating and lead to more complicated kinds of cookery later on. The finished product can be eaten on the spot as a snack, or taken home to be enjoyed with their parents and other family members. One 45-60 minute session, involving a simple recipe with 3-4 ingredients, can be done at a work table with disposable implements & bowls or plates. Children will learn kitchen etiquette, food sanitation, proper terminology and cooking terms. For 4 years and up. Care is taken in avoiding food allergies.   Gabby has developed a program for pre-school and elementary school children in Daycare Programs. She has taught KinderMusic, is trained in “Music Together” and has taught children both dance and voice in the area for many years, using her training, her experience as a teacher, Mom and Grandmom and has developed a program of her own.
For younger children, Megan sings with them, uses simple movements and rhythm instruments in a session lasting 30 minutes. For older children the lessons are 45 minutes long, and include more complicated songs, rhythms and instruments, and also rudimentary composition and lyric-writing.
